I have been working at Bridal Elegance for over two years now and boy do I have a lot of stories to tell! I have been surprised by a bride’s choice in gowns more than once, but one time I was really, REALLY surprised!

It had started when bride came in to look at wedding dresses for the first time with a unique plan that I thought would fail. She wanted to try on only what her handful of friends and family wanted her to try without even looking at the racks for herself. Her only rule was this: NO MERMAIDS. The dresses began to pile up, so we headed into the fitting room to get started. There were all sorts of different styles from empire gowns, to ball gowns, to sheaths.

One by one we went through the dresses, but she had yet to find the special dress that she could see herself walking down the isle in. After a great deal of dresses I assisted her into a gown that I knew she was against…That’s right! A mermaid. Wanting to show her family and friends why she did not want a mermaid, she jokingly slipped the dress on. With the gown hardly over her hips and before I could zip her up, she rushed out of the room with a hint of giggles yelling, “Who Picked THIS?!“

No one fessed up, but they all joined in laughing at the site of her half assembled. Once I caught up to the bride, I proceeded to lower the gown down over her hips and zip it into place. The very second that zipper reached the top of the dress the room went silent. The bride knew right then and there that she had found it – She had finally found the dress she would walk down the aisle in!

WOW! Even I had never thought that the dress she would choose would be a mermaid. Who knows? You too may be delightfully surprised when you slip on a dress that you would never in a million years picture yourself wearing.

Happy Chinese New Year

Did you know that the Chinese New Year will be celebrated February 2013?

What does this mean to you as a bride?  The factories that make several of our top designer gowns will close down for 2-4 weeks around those dates. This will affect the production schedule and available ship dates for special order gowns and we have already begun to receive delayed ship dates some of our orders.

If you are planning a wedding in the first 6 months of 2013, we encourage you to have all of your special orders finalized as soon as possible.
